The Beginnings

Juno is a graphic designer hailing from the beautiful evergreen state of Washington. During his upbringing, he found a strong passion for art, often doodling cartoons and characters he saw on TV. Later, he picked up skateboarding as a hobby and quickly fell in love with the designs he would find right beneath his feet. This hobby inspired him to pursue a career in graphic design!

He started his design career at Everett Community College, where he became a leader in his design classes, helping his peers understand adobe programs and riff design concepts. He soon became one of the graphic design interns at the EvCC Student LIFE department, designing a wide range of printed media for two years. Later, becoming the Interim Graphic Designer for the department during the summer of 2020 and receiving an Associates Degree in Graphic and Web Design.

The Things He is Proud Of

With less than three months of experience, Juno dove head-first into his graphic design internship. A very foreign transition for someone who had been working two jobs since he was 15, as a janitor, retailer, and working in the food industry before heading into this internship. Though graphic design was his first passion, he found deep pride in working as a Busser for The Cheesecake Factory, where he became a certified Busser trainer. Balancing both jobs was tough, but he persevered and found a balance between school, work, and design. He found that his busy schedule motivated him to create the best work whenever he was in the office!

Soon, that hard work paid off, and he won the “Best Print Media Design” award at the 2019 NACA West Conference for his poster design for the Queer Art Showcase at EvCC. With less than a year of design experience at the time, working two jobs, he felt proud that he stuck with it and flew higher than he ever thought possible!

His Side of the Street

Juno is somewhat of a nostalgia junkie- sticking to a more retro-fashion sense and interested in how graphic design was done in the past, all analog. Often found in his home office listening to vinyl records of 90’s era Hip-hop and R&B with a little jazz in the mix while reading his design books, crudely drawing funny characters from his imagination, or customizing his Magic The Gathering decks.

Juno lives by the Bruce Lee quote, “Be like water,” be formless, shapeless, and adaptive to change. Moving to Florida was the biggest change of his life, and he is glad he made it down south and took the biggest step in his design career to date by working at Rock Paper Simple to sharpen his skills and become a better creative for the years to come!
